2 Day Beginner Course

 Level 1+2

 Beginner

 2 Day

AIDA 1+2
Molchanov's Wave 1

  • The main focus in our beginner course is safety, quality and fun. We will teach you how to achieve the freedive course goals in a comfortable and relaxed manner. You will be amazed how fast you will progress and what you can achieve with your body and mind. Freediving is all about relaxation and trust: we take the time for you to learn and experience freediving in your own pace.

  • The static and dynamic sessions in confined water are used to teach relaxation, breathing, finning and safety techniques. In the open water sessions, students will apply the skills they have learned in the pool / confined water sessions and combine them with the basic skills of open water freediving such as equalizing, duck diving, vertical swimming, body positioning, turns and use of buoyancy. The freediving theory includes: Introduction to Freediving, Freediving Breathing Cycle, Basic Physiology of Freediving, Equalization, Freediving Techniques, Safety in Freediving, Equipment in Freediving and Freediving Disciplines.

We currently have 2 instructors and that means we have two different organizations certifications available!

  • What are the different types of freediving we will learn?
Static Apnea - This type of freediving discipline involves the diver holding their breath for the maximum possible time while floating face down in a confined body of water. To qualify, the diver's respiratory system must remain fully submerged throughout the activity. Dynamic Apnea - In this freediving discipline, the diver aims to cover the longest possible distance in a horizontal position underwater while in confined water. The activity can be done with or without fins. Free Immersion - This discipline involves the use of a guide rope to descend as deep as possible and then return to the surface. This activity can also be done with or without fins. Constant Weight - During this freediving discipline, the diver uses their own strength and technique to descend as deep as possible next to a guide rope without touching it. This discipline is performed in open water and can be done with or without fins.
  • Do I need my own freediving equipment?
Fins, mask/snorkel, and weight belt will be provided. Wetsuits are highly recommended and if you do not have one, renting from any scuba shop in Waikiki is recommended. Renting the evening before is recommended due to 6am start time.
  • If I can’t hold my breath for a long time does that mean I can’t freedive?
Many people hold the misconception that freediving requires a natural ability to hold your breath for extended periods of time. However, with appropriate training, you can acquire breath-hold techniques that can result in surprisingly longer breath-holding times.
  • What would happen if I do not pass a course?
If you're unable to pass a requirement of a course and wish to receive a certification, you will have one year to pass the requirement. This will need to be organized through your instructor directly, and will only be permitted to join a specific day of a course if there is space available.
